The great strength of boxing
is that it combines many different forms of exercise—it requires the same strength, balance, and aerobic skills that forms like dancing, strength training, and calisthenics in an even more engaging activity.
On top of this
boxing is a goal-based exercise that combines skill and cognitive engagement. Both of these factors help promote neuroplasticity and benefits at the synaptic level. In short, boxing is more than a physical workout, but a mental one too. .
At the same time as
it treats motor symptoms, boxing has also been found to create a stronger sense of self in those with PD. It doesn’t hurt to feel like a champion!
